ChatGPT is now driving THOUSANDS of monthly signups to my startup.

Here's what I did and my analysis:

My hypothesis:

When LLMs like ChatGPT search the internet for recommendations, they prioritize content from the 1st page of search results.

Since Dec 2024, when ChatGPT enabled web search, I began spending a few hours daily into SEO.

Here's exactly what I did:

- Built free tools
- Got featured on 'best-of' review sites (e.g., "Best AI tools for Excel").
- Commented and shared links on relevant Reddit threads

Impact & Analysis:

+70% Organic impressions for non-branded search terms.

ChatGPT traffic DOUBLED.

- There's a 0.92 correlation between ChatGPT visits and category search impressions and only a 0.38 correlation with branded ("formula bot") search impressions.

- There's a 2.5x stronger correlation between ChatGPT visits and ranking on Google's first page compared to ranking on all other pages.

SEO isn't dead. It's actually your flywheel to get more traffic from LLMs.
